The Teen Summer Stock Series is a two-week intensive production aimed at the advanced young adult performer. To simulate a summer stock theatre company, actors will rehearse Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with one weekend of performances.   For additional details about Davidson Community Players and the Connie Company, visit www.DavidsonCommunityPlayers.org.

*Rehearsals will take place from 9-4pm daily during the weeks of July 25-Aug 5.

Those interested should bring 16 bars of a song that shows off their vocal range and ability to act through a song, as well as a recent picture, resume or list of theatre experience. An accompanist will be provided; a capella is not encouraged. A short dance audition will be included, so please dress comfortably and be prepared to move. In all cases, auditionees should plan to arrive at the start of the appropriate audition and stay for the entire session.

**If you wish to audition for both shows, those actors may come Friday, June 3rd at 5pm or Saturday, June 4th at 10am. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Rent has become a pop cultural phenomenon. with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.

Roger Davis

A struggling musician and former drug addict. He is reminiscent of Kurt Cobain. Roommates with Mark in the loft and battles with being HIV-positive.

Filmmaker and video artist. Knee deep in his own soul-searching, Mark is the typical young artist. He and Roger are roommates in the loft. A bit of a nerd.

Tom Collins

A computer genius and liberal professor. He is a nurturer with a smooth and relaxed disposition. Used to be a roommate in the loft and is HIV-positive.

Benjamin Coffin III

The landlord of Mark and Roger’s apartment building. A former roommate in the loft, Benny traded in his personal morals for power and wealth.

Joanne Jefferson

A public interest lawyer and headstrong lesbian. She is smart and purposeful in all her decisions. Carries on a tumultuous relationship with Maureen.

Angel Dumott Schunard

The eccentric HIV-positive street drummer. A drag queen with an incredible gift of dance and a magnetic personality. He becomes Tom’s lover.

Mimi Marquez

An HIV-positive stripper with drug addictions. Slender and sickly, she conceals it all at her job in the local strip club. She lives in the same building as the loft.

An unpredictably zany performance artist. Maureen oozes sexuality and used to live in the loft. She has recently dumped Mark for Joanne.
