A New Look for DCP

This week, Davidson Community Players launches a new website and new logo! Here are some notes and highlights about the makeover to guide this orientation period:

  • What inspired this? Just like an overdue visit to the hair salon, it was time for a clean up! Our old site was limited in functionality and hard to navigate. Our new site is dynamic and versatile. The new logo is intentionally simple, intending to give us a solid digital base from which to add variations and flourishes for each of our many programs (see the next note!). In terms of colors, we love the high contrast, eclectic mix black and yellow with pops of navy and Charlotte blues.

  • What about the jester hat? We will be bringing the jester hat, an anchor symbol since our founding, over to our special Connie Company logo, to be shared soon. You can still spot the hat in our old logos on our wonderful new History page.

  • How do I buy tickets? This is still pretty much the same, but it’s easier to get there. You will see a ticket button on top of every page on the site, and each show page will also have an easily findable ticket button. These buttons will take you to the same interface—run by our ticketing platform ArtsPeople—that we’ve had all along.

  • How do I donate? This is now MUCH easier; we have an embedded donation form our our site that can accept contributions via all payment methods in just a few clicks! You can choose to make one-time or recurring donations.

  • How do I register for classes? For now, our education pages will take you to our same class registration system on CourseStorm. Once our current enrollment cycle is over, we will switch to offering registration directly through our site.

  • What else is new?

    • One of the ideas behind the simpler logo is to let the shows’ art and photos really tell the story of DCP. Now, every show we do will have its own detailed page with graphics, production info, and a gallery of photos. Once a show closes, these pages will move to an archive in our past productions.

    • We now have an FAQ page to consolidate questions about the patron experience. If you have any suggestions for questions we should add, email boxoffice@davidsoncommunityplayers.org!

  • What’s this blog page? Our blog will be a way we can have more candid, insightful connections with you, our audience. Blog posts will be previewed through our email newsletter, with the full content here. Topics may cover anything about the state of theatre nationwide, locally in the Charlotte area, or within our walls. Our Executive Director Steve Kaliski will lead the writing, with occasional other contributors.

  • Finally…There’s a lot of information on this new site. Get to know our staff by reading their bios. Learn about sponsorships and field trips. Check our which values mean the most to us. Have fun exploring!
