Improv for Performance

$225.00

with Karla Dingle

Fall Session: Sep 19 - Nov 21, 2024
Thursdays 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Are curious how improv can be applied to broader performance skills? And are you brave enough to maybe try showcasing your skills for a public audience? If so, then this is the class for you! Over a 10-week term, participants will connect improv to the larger craft of acting by learning a variety of unscripted performance styles. You will explore:

  • Short-Form Improv Games like "Whose Line is it Anyway?"

  • Improvised Monologues

  • Working with an Ensemble

  • Long-Form Improvisation

For the last class, participants will perform a 75 minute public show for Davidson Community Players.

CLASSES THURS 7-9PM: Classes will occur once a week on Thursdays from 7-9pm. There will be 7 total classes plus a performance. There will be no class on 10/24 and 10/31.

EXPERIENCE: This is a great companion class to the improv and acting courses DCP has offered in the past year. Some experience preferred but no experience necessary; beginners may inquire prior to enrollment by emailing steve@davidsoncommunityplayers.org.

REFUND POLICY: Class tuition will be refunded in full up to 7 days prior to the class start date. Refunds will not be granted after the deadline.
